Our client seeks to recruit a manager to lead, manage and represent the portfolio and project management functions, introducing required disciplines and strengthening the delivery capability to implement strategic business intitiatives.
Job specifications
Implementing the Project Handbook, reviewing the approach and performance measurement

  • Schedule and administer gate reviews for projects
  • Define and implement performance measurement KPI’s for projects
  • Update the standards and project management process based on lessons learned
  • Communicate and follow up the implementation of the project management methodology
  • Training of Project Managers on project approach and specifying a training programme
  • Review and assess the improvements for project handbook and templates

Portfolio management

  • Develop tools and methods for analyzing and collectively managing a group of projects (current or proposed) in line with strategic goals and business plan
  • Challenge of a viable project mix that meets the business targets
  • Develop means to assess the impact of recent requests on the running projects
  • Manage the master project portfolio and schedule (preferably in a database)
  • Facilitate for Business and IT alignment
  • Manage the overall capacity allocation (resource assignments to be done by Line Managers)
  • Co-ordinate demand assessment, estimation and prioritisation with the business and IT teams
  • Follow up and measure the service levels for addressing the demand backlog

Program Office Management

  • Drives all aspects of project activity, including collaborating and coordinating across all IT and business teams
  • Work with the Project Managers to deliver to plan and budget
  • Assess (or manage the assessment of) the feasibility of potential projects
  • Deal with the unplanned via risk, issue and dependency management
  • Ensures consistency and adherence to project management standards, processes, and policies for all projects
  • Plans communication, distributes information as necessary, and provides project and portfolio status reporting
  • Keeps track on the current status of the milestone plan of each project and the roadmap

Service Catalogue Management

  • Produce and maintain Service Catalogue, containing accurate information on all operational services and those being prepared to be run operationally
  • Implement a database or structured document with information about all live services, including those available for deployment
  • Introduce a process to ensure that the service catalogue is up-to-date and contains reliable information.

Day-to-day management of PM pool (2-3 staff)

  • Set team objectives and direction
  • Follows up
  • Direct, guide, motivate and develop staff

Additional tasks may be imposed temporarily, subject to consultation, if required for the operation of the service or organisation as a whole.
Your profile

  • Minimum 10 years of experience in managing a portfolio of projects in a dynamic multi-national environment, having successfully served in an IT Management role as well as Program & Project management roles.
  • A proven record of accomplishment of successful project implementations, and experience with stakeholder management at different levels in organisations, in a multi-cultural environment.
  • IT background with technical skills and experience in management of IT delivery teams is a plus.
  • Knowledge and experience of postal business, products and services knowledge is a plus.
  • Experience at taking both strategic and tactical decisions, and handling challenging timescales.

  • Qualification: Bachelor degree in Computing or related field
  • As English is the working language of our client, a high standard of both spoken and written English is required, other European languages a plus
